Quantized Tensor Network Methods for Vlasov-Maxwell Simulations
ORAL
Abstract
Kinetic simulations of collisionless plasmas using the Vlasov equation are often infeasible due to the need for high resolution and the curse of dimensionality. Quantized tensor network (QTN) methods are a promising means of approximately solving partial differential equations with potentially subexponential reduction in computational cost, though the accuracy of the calculation depends on how accurately the solution can be represented within the QTN format. In this talk, we will review basic tensor network algorithms, discuss our implementation of a semi-implicit Vlasov-Maxwell solver, and present results for calculations in up to 2D3V.
