Comparison of helium and hydrogen gas puffed plasmas in LAPD
POSTER
Abstract
In this poster we will compare turbulence characteristics of hydrogen and helium plasmas on Large Plasma Device (LAPD). Experimental observations in tokamaks have shown that a change in plasma species does affect transport and confinement. The LAPD experiments scanned a variety of electron densities and temperatures as well as neutral densities in helium. The operational range for hydrogen plasmas is more limited and we will compare the dimensionless parameters obtained for hydrogen against a large helium dataset. We will compare both the radial profiles for helium and hydrogen and the turbulence properties measured with 4-tipped Langmuir probe.
