2-D Electron Density Profiles Using Inverse Radon Transformation in C2W Field Reverse Configuration

POSTER

Abstract

In the TAE Technologies current experimental device, C-2W (also called “Norman”) [1], record breaking, advanced beam-driven, high temperature field reversed configuration (FRC) plasmas are produced and sustained in steady state utilizing variable energy neutral beams, advanced divertors, end bias electrodes, and an active plasma control system. The density equilibrium profiles and fluctuations are measured with the powerful 14 chords FIR interferometer system [2]. An inverse Radon transformation algorithm has been developed to calculate the 2-D density profile structures at mid-plane from the multi-channel FIR interferometer measurement. The variation of electron density profiles in different plasmas and configurations are observed, which may indicate the changes in particle confinement.
