MATLAB App For Image Processing and Spectral Line Analysis

Abstract



 Many experimental diagnostics of plasma nowadays rely on imaging. Passive emission from excited species, laser-excited fluorescence or laser scattering approaches frequently use 2D CCD cameras to capture spatio-temporally resolved images. We present a graphic user interface (GUI) designed in Matlab for the purpose of streamlining the processing of images and saving the necessary data for future presentation. Image processing includes various tools for smoothing, filtering, image subtraction, addition and image manipulation. Most importantly the GUI includes spectral line analysis, such as the fitting of spectral lines, calculation and deconvolution of broadening mechanisms relevant to laboratory plasma in given experimental conditions.
