Abstract

$\Gamma$, the ratio interaction energy to kinetic energy, is a key quantity in strongly coupled plasma physics. Unfortunately it is also one of the most difficult properties to measure -especially locally at the kinetic level. We combine theory, numerical simulations and experimental results to show how to measure this important quantity in `complex (dusty) plasmas'.
