Studying the Structure of Nucleons and Light Ions with ALERT and CLAS12 at Jefferson Lab

ORAL

Abstract

In 2025, a Low Energy Recoil Tracker (ALERT) was installed with the CLAS12 spectrometer at Jefferson Lab to enable a broad physics program focused on the partonic structure of light nuclei. By tagging low-energy recoil ions in exclusive processes and deep inelastic scattering on deuterium and helium-4 targets, the experiment provides clean access to medium modifications of parton distributions. ALERT combines a hyperbolic drift chamber for tracking with a time-of-flight system based on scintillators with an SiPM readout for particle identification. This presentation will highlight the 2025 data-taking and ongoing efforts to exploit the detector’s full capabilities.
