Nuclear Processes for Dark Matter searches in SuperCDMS
ORAL
Abstract
The Super Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (SuperCDMS) is a deep underground experiment to search for direct interactions with dark matter. This experiment will probe Beyond Standard Model physics, yet, many details of our analysis, background estimation, and calibration depend on nuclear physics processes. I will give an overview of how nuclear physics data and theory impact the results that SuperCDMS produces. I will also highlight the ongoing research on specific processes such as neutron elastic scattering, neutron capture, and (α, n) reactions, that are relevant to optimize the searches for dark matter in SuperCDMS.
