Nuclear structure studies of neutron rich cobalt isotopes

ORAL

Abstract

We report on a new isomeric state from a recent decay spectroscopy experiment at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) using the FRIB Decay Station Initiator (FDSi). The excited state was populated during fragmentation in the primary target at FRIB and observed through gamma-ion correlation. A brief overview of the experimental techniques, results, and implications for an N=50 island of inversion below 78Ni will be discussed.
