The b$_1$ (E12-13-011) Tensor Polarized Target Experiment at Jefferson Lab
ORAL
Abstract
The inclusive tensor spin structure function b$_{1}$ and tensor asymmetry A$_{zz}$ will be measured in Hall C of Jefferson Lab during the E12-13-011 and E12-15-005 experiments. The University of New Hampshire Nuclear Physics Group is heavily invested in developing the tensor enhancement techniques of selective semi-saturated RF(ssRF) and Adiabatic Fast Passage (AFP) that we will use to enhance the tensor polarization of the ND$_{3}$ target. We will use the CEBAF 11.0 GeV, 100 nA electron beam incident on the solid DNP target ($10^{38}~mathrm{cm}^{-2}mathrm{s}^{-1}$) and the HallC spectrometers to measure the deuteron tensor spin asymmetries and extract b$_{1}$. In this talk, we will discuss tensor polarization enhancement techniques, and previously measured RGC deuteron polarimetry and double spin asymmetry data that we are analyzing to prepare for the tensor experiments.
