Charmonium Photoproduction with GlueX
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
The photoproduction of charmonium (ccbar) mesons near threshold has been suggested to be a sensitive probe of quark and gluonic configurations in the nucleon. However, these interpretations depend on models of the reaction mechanism which must be experimentally verified. The GlueX experiment at Jefferson Lab has collected data on the photoproduction of the J/Ψ meson that challenges existing models of charmonium photoproduction. GlueX has also observed the photoproduction of other charmonia, such as the orbitally excited χc1,c2 states, which provide a complementary probe of the production mechanism. In this talk, I will describe the current state of these measurements and plans for future charmonium measurements at GlueX.
