Integrated Magnetic Field Design for the Project 8 Experiment
ORAL
Abstract
The Project 8 experiment to measure neutrino mass is now in Phase III, consisting in part of the development of a large-volume resonant cavity for cyclotron radiation emission spectroscopy (CRES), the “Low Frequency Apparatus”. The dimensions and specifications permit a sub-eV measurement of neutrino mass. To obtain the necessary energy resolution, to trap electrons, to trap atomic lithium and tritium, and to defend against environmental fields presents demanding and coupled design requirements for the magnetic field in which CRES is carried out. We will describe the challenges and how they are being addressed.
