Preliminary Neutron Capture Cross Section Analysis of Iodine-127 Using DANCE

ORAL

Abstract

Accurate neutron capture cross-section measurements are essential for advancing our understanding of nuclear structure and resonance behavior. This presentation shares preliminary results from the analysis of neutron capture on Iodine-127 using the DANCE (Detector for Advanced Neutron Capture Experiments) array at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The focus is on identifying and characterizing p-wave resonances through the detection of gamma-ray emissions following neutron capture.

While this work is part of a broader effort aimed at investigating fundamental symmetry violations such as P-even/T-odd effects, the current analysis is dedicated to refining cross-section data and extracting resonance parameters. These foundational measurements are critical for building a detailed picture of neutron capture processes and enabling future studies into symmetry-related observables in nuclear systems.
