Abstract
The single-nucleon energy levels and configurations of 12C are predominantly determined by theoretical calculations, with parameters fitted from other measurements. Given that 12C is not a simple semi-closed shell nucleus, possesses alpha-cluster states, and is important in various nucleosynthesis pathways, direct measurements of its excited single-particle configuration are crucial for present and future nuclear structure and astrophysics understanding. The first measurement of single-neutron strength in 12C for states up to 17 MeV is conducted using the 11C(d,p) reaction with the HELIOS spectrometer at ANL. The experimental setup, analysis, and preliminary results will be presented.
