Photon-QGP Interactions Revisited in a Monte Carlo Scheme
ORAL
Abstract
We have created a comprehensive photon Monte Carlo event generator for high energy heavy ion collisions by adding photon handling abilities to the X-SCAPE framework. This allows us to create photons from all parts of the system and then let them interact with the hydrodynamic medium while keeping track of their initial sources in the output. With this tool, we examine the effects of reabsorbtion and pseudocritical enhancement on the measured photon spectrum and elliptic flow. Incorporating these effects into the traditional paradigm presents an opportunity to resolve tension between observables. We compare our predictions to data for Au-Au at 200 GeV and Pb-Pb at 2.76 TeV for the centrality range 0-40%.
