Thinking Of Applying To Graduate School - Some thoughts from a Director of Graduate Studies
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
This presentation offers my personal advice on how to prepare a strong application for a PhD program in physics or related fields. I will discuss the key components of a typical application, with particular emphasis on the content of the personal (or professional) statement and choosing letter writers for your references. Attendee questions are welcome and encouraged throughout. There is no single formula for a perfect application—everyone’s path is unique. My core message is that the materials you submit are both a job application and a reflection of your goals, so it’s important to present yourself honestly while highlighting your strengths.
