Comparative Analysis of KATRIN Rear Wall Measurements
POSTER
Abstract
The Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino (KATRIN) experiment directly measures the neutrino mass scale with a target sensitivity of 0.3 eV/c^2 and a 90% confidence level by analyzing the spectral shape of the tritium beta spectrum near the endpoint. During operation, tritium atoms and molecules can adsorb onto the Rear Wall (RW) of the source and create an additional distinct background beta-decay spectrum. While spectral scan and rate measurements are used to study this background, a comparative analysis is yet to be conducted to ensure these two metrics produce consistent results. In addition, RW measurements have been taken in various configurations throughout different neutrino mass campaigns. This poster presentation will explore the association between the measurement methods and compare results under measurements in varying configurations.
