Evaluation of Hadron Mass Corrections in Semi-Inclusive Kaon and Pion Production
POSTER
Abstract
We revisit and extend past analyses of hadron mass corrections in integrated kaon and pion multiplicities from deep inelastic scattering at COMPASS, HERMES, and Jefferson Lab kinematics. The size of corrections with different combinations of newer parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions is given special attention. We find that hadron mass corrections reduce the well-known COMPASS vs. HERMES discrepancies in the charge-summed MK+ + MK- kaon multiplicity and almost wholly accounts for the discrepancies in the MK+ / MK- multiplicity ratio, consistent with prior analyses. We also extend the analysis to pion production for which Jefferson Lab data are available and expected to receive larger corrections.
