A Survey of the K+ωΛ System in Photoproduction Data from GlueX

ORAL

Abstract

The GlueX experiment has accumulated the largest available data set for studying photoproduction with the goal of exploring the dynamics of the strong force and searching for new resonant states. We present data collected at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility using a polarized photon beam, with an energy of approximately 9 GeV, incident on a liquid hydrogen target, and detected by the GlueX spectrometer. We focus on a survey of the mostly unexplored reaction γp → K+ωΛ over the Phase-I GlueX data set. This reaction sheds light on possible strange hybrid mesons decaying to K+ω and is especially of note due to the expected presence of such strange hybrid mesons given the observance of the π1(1600). In this presentation we will discuss our approach to identifying this reaction and preliminary survey of the resulting mass spectra.
