Search for Resonances in the ωη System at GlueX
ORAL
Abstract
The GlueX experiment has produced the world's largest data sample for peripheral photoproduction of mesons, with the goal of expanding our understanding of the strong interaction and searching for hybrid mesons. Using a tagged linearly polarized photon beam that peaks between 8 - 9 GeV incident on a liquid hydrogen target, we accumulated ωη events at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility using the GlueX detector. In this reaction,ω is identified by its decay mode to π+ π- π0. The η and π0 are identified by their decay to 2γ. We present the current status of the search, through an amplitude analysis, for possible intermediate resonances that decay to ωη. The search could help constrain the resonant parameters of known but not well-established ω(1650) and ω(1420), as well as observe for the first time states with exotic quantum numbers JPC=0--, 2+-. The presentation also includes an outline of our strategy for this and future studies.
