Proposed Fixed-Target Proton-Nucleus Experiments at Intermediate Energies at the BNL AGS

ORAL

Abstract

In July we held a workshop to explore opportunities enabled by a fixed-target proton–nucleus facility operating at intermediate energies. With several major test beam sites offline or operating under constraints, establishing such a facility presents a timely and strategic opportunity to address the immediate and long-term needs of the research community. This workshop brought together researchers from a wide range of scientific fields to discuss how a fixed-target proton–nucleus setup could serve as a flexible platform for advancing detector development, conducting beam and electronics testing, and addressing key open questions in nuclear physics. The discussions at this workshop will be summarized.
