Possible physics of a neutrino experiment at a pulsed reactor

ORAL

Abstract

Past neutrino experiments have all been performed at nuclear reactors while they are in steady-state where the time-average flux is high. We present a new experimental concept at a pulsed reactor (such a TRIGA) to “wait” out background events and allowing the detector to be placed close to reactor core. The detector technology will utilize a proven technology in inverse beta decay detection. Such a detector could probe fission fragment decays in non-equilibrium conditions as well as enable a search for sterile neutrino in the Δm14=1 eV2 region.
