DOE NP approaches to fostering a positive climate in the Nuclear Physics community

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

Behaviors such as harassment, bullying, and discrimination have a detrimental impact on recruitment, training, retention, and the pursuit of excellence within the Nuclear Physics research community. Establishing a climate of growth and excellence that is attractive to a broad swath of society is a high priority for the Office of Science and will help ensure that the community's future is bright. I will discuss approaches pursued within the DOE Office of Nuclear Physics to address detrimental behavior within the ranks of work performers and to establish positive incentive structures to further the goal of improving the climate within Nuclear Physics.
