3He Metastability Exchange Optical Pumping at High Magnetic Field and Variable Pressure
ORAL
Abstract
With the recent advancements in Metastability Exchange Optical Pumping (MEOP) techniques, 3He nuclear spin polarization has been investigated using various systems at high magnetic fields (> 0.5T) and under different gas pressures. At Jefferson Lab target group, we are developing a 3He MEOP polarization system, where an adjustable-pressure cell design allows us to examine the dependency of 3He polarization on both pressure (1-267 mbar) and magnetic field (2-5T). This ongoing development aims to create a double-cell, cryogenic polarized 3He target for CLAS12 in Hall B at JLab, which features a central solenoid with a magnetic field of 5T. This presentation will discuss the current design and progress of the apparatus being tested at JLab.
