The Tagged Deep Inelastic Scattering experiment at Jlab
ORAL
Abstract
The Tagged Deep Inelastic Scattering (TDIS) experiment in Hall A at Jefferson Laboratory is an ambitious project utilizing a new multiple time projection chamber(mTPC) alongside the Super Bigbite Spectrometer (SBS) to investigate the internal structure of hadrons. TDIS aims to measure the structure functions of pions via the Sullivan process (electron scattering off the nucleon meson cloud) using the tagging technique. Two additional experiments have been approved as part of the run group. For all these experiments, the mTPC will be operated at high rates with high occupancy. Therefore, identifying good tracks is one of the major challenges of the TDIS run group. We will discuss the recent progress in developing a robust tracking algorithm to address the tracking challange.
This talk outlines the motivation of the experiment and the current status of the TDIS tracking algorithm.
