The NEXT Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay Experiment

ORAL

Abstract

The NEXT collaboration is deploying a sequence of high pressure xenon gas time projection chambers to search for neutrinoless double beta decay, observation of which would establish the neutrino to be its own antiparticle. This talk will give an update and status overview of the NEXT program. Emphasis will be given to the final results of NEXT-White, which successfully concluded its operation in 2021; the status of NEXT-100, now running at the Laboratorio Subterráneo Canfranc in Spain; and to NEXT's ongoing R&D program on barium tagging technology, which aims to enable future background-free detectors at and beyond the ton-scale.
