Instrumentation in the far forward regions of the LHC and EIC
ORAL
Abstract
Instrumentation in the far forward regions of the LHC and EIC is vital for the realizing the potential of both machines to understand the multidimenionsal structure of protons and nuclei. We will review the technological challanges for calorimetry & tracking in this region, recent R&D, and feasible approaches to building such detectors. In particular the joint ATLAS/CMS effort on Zero Degree Calorimetry JZCapa, and the eRD27 effort on ZDCs for the LHC will be reviewed.
