Far-forward detection at the EIC with ECCE
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
A new Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) is currently being developed in the US with the goal of revolutionizing our understanding of the fundamental structure of matter and the theory of Quantum Chromodynamics. To fully utilize the EIC capabilities, advanced detectors are being developed in conjunction with simulation studies that show the major impact of an optimized detector design on the scientific output of the EIC program. In this talk, I will present the ECCE consortium concept for the far forward/backward region of the EIC detector: this is essential for definitive studies of bound nucleon structure, neutron spin, meson structure, and more.
