Investigation of extensions to the Glauber model of nuclear collisions
POSTER
Abstract
The Glauber model of nuclear collisions describes the geometrical distribution of interacting nucleons. Monte Carlo versions of the Glauber model have been very successfully applied to data from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. This poster will describe how it is used to model the collisions of nuclei at high energy particle accelerators such as RHIC and the LHC, as well as possible quark level extensions to the model. A computer simulation of the model written in Java with full visualization and outputs to ROOT will be demonstrated.
