Results of the first beam time with the neutron decay spectrometer $a$SPECT

ORAL

Abstract

With the neutron decay spectrometer $a$SPECT we aim to measure the proton spectrum in free neutron beta decay precisely. This allows us to determine the neutrino electron correlation coefficient $a$. We had our first test beam time in 2005/06 at the new neutron source FRM-II in Garching. In my talk I want to talk about the results, the systematic effects we found and the ways how to deal with them in later beam times.
