Principles of quantitative flow analysis using classical and modern tools

The advent of AI-tools has changed the way we investigate and make progress on challenging fluid problems. While these tools have resulted in impressive solutions -- and even paradigm shifts -- in many areas, in fluid dynamics they are best combined with classical techniques of analysis for optimal impact and progress toward a solution. This presentation will review and assess classical and recent approaches and argue for a collaborative and symbiotic effort for tackling open problems in flow analysis and fluid dynamics.
