Evasion Dynamics of Schooling Fish in the Presence of Predators
ORAL
Abstract
Schooling fish often form cohesive groups as a defense mechanism against predators, exhibiting remarkable collective behaviors. Predation risk triggers rapid adaptive responses within fish schools, leading to adjustments in group structure and coordination. This study explores evasion dynamics of fish collectives facing predators, revealing principles of collective behavior, individual movements, and adaptive responses. We also find environmental factors and predator presence influence evasion strategies. Findings enhance understanding of predator-prey interactions and collective dynamics.
