Meta-analysis of PMFs Used for Bacterial Decontamination of Food Sources

POSTER

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the potential of pulsed magnetic fields (PMFs) to induce prokaryotic cellular apoptosis and determine the required strength for this effect. This study collected sixty-seven studies from various websites, including Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and PubMed. Among these studies, a category of particular interest was identified, consisting of seven studies relevant to the topic of interest investigating the potential of polymethoxyflavones (PMFs) to induce prokaryotic cellular apoptosis in Escherichia coli (E. coli). From these studies, the following tools were used to extract, measure, and plot data points: Caliper, ruler, Vernier Graphical Analysis software, and Desmos's free scientific calculator facilitated the analysis and interpretation of the data. The data indicates that PMFs induce prokaryotic cellular apoptosis in E. coli. The most effective PMF has an intensity of 6.32 T at 20 pulses with a survival rate of approximately 1.96%. Additionally, there is mounting evidence to suggest that the relationship between the survival rate of E. Coli is inversely correlated with the Tesla and warrants further investigation.
