Fluid-Structure Interaction of Single and Dual Wall-Mounted Flexible Plates

ORAL

Abstract

This study conducts comprehensive two-way fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulations, focusing on flexible plates that are wall-mounted in an open channel with an incoming flow. Both perforated and non-perforated plates are explored in this investigation. The effect of various dimensionless parameters, including Reynold’s number, Cauchy number (rigidity), buoyancy number, and porosity level are studied. Based on the defined parameters, various flexibility modes and patterns are observed, and the wakes associated with these different modes are compared and analyzed for both porous and non-porous plates.
