Circular towing: a restricted case
POSTER
Abstract
Dynamic equilibria of strings in fluids are relevant to a variety of situations including fiber sedimentation and cable towing. Here I consider a highly restricted special case of steadily rotating planar configurations experiencing purely normal linear drag forces, for which analytical results may be obtained. The resulting shapes approach Fermat spirals at sufficiently large radius.
