Dynamics of Viscoplastic Sheets

Abstract

A theory is presented for the dynamics of slender sheets of viscoplastic fluid, equivalent to classical analysis of elastic beams and viscous plates. The effect of a yield stress is highlighted. The theory is applied to the fall of a liquid bridge supported at its two ends. The yield stress halts the fall of the bridge; the final asymptotic state is calculated in various limits.
