Spatial forcing in Thermal Convection Experiments

Abstract
We present experimental results on topological and optical forcing of large aspect ratio Rayleigh-Benard and inclined layer convection of a fluid with Prandtl number 1. For three different forcing patterns (homogeneous internal heating, striped and hexagonal) the observed flow patterns are presented and compared to theory where available.
