Upgrade to a Precision Atomic Beam Laser Spectroscopy Experiment
POSTER
Abstract
A precision atomic beam laser spectroscopy experiment of helium fine structure is being simplified and improved. A custom built reference optical cavity is being built that provides short term frequency stability and sufficient long term stability to servo control the laser to the atomic helium transition frequency, Though high end commercial cavites are available with better performance, our implementation is both cost effective and sufficient for our purposes. Basic temperature stability, environmental isolation, and servocontrol are the main experimental focus. The details will be presented along with other aspects of the experiment.
