Efficient all-optical transport and trapping of an alkali-lanthanide mixture
ORAL
Abstract
We report efficient optical transport and sympathetic cooling of an erbium-lithium mixture. The species are sequentially laser-cooled, spin-polarized, and loaded into a single tweezer for optical transport. The erbium gas sympathetically cools the lithium, and we transport over 90% of the atoms 25 cm to a nano-textured glass cell for microscopy. The cell hosts a suite of optical potentials for trapping, as well as precise magnetic coils for utilizing Feshbach resonances.
