Quantum Gases of Dy in High-Finesse Multimode Cavities
POSTER
Abstract
We introduce a new experimental platform that allows quantum degenerate dysprosium to be strongly coupled to a multimode optical cavity. By exploiting photon-mediated interactions and Dy's large magnetic dipole moment, large tensor polarizability, and dense Feshbach spectrum, we aim to create and probe, e.g., Peierls instabilities to 1D density waves. The system enables photon-mediated interactions and imaging at the sub-2-µm scale. We will report on the cavity and atom trapping and cooling specifications of this new system.
