Electron-impact excitation of Singly-ionized Neon using the B-Spline atomic R-Matrix code

POSTER

Abstract

Neon gas has seen an increase in use in Low Temperature Plasma (LTP) applications, such as analytical spectrometry [1]. As such, cross sectional data for electron collisions with neutral neon is relatively abundant [2,3]. However, limited data is available for electron-impact excitation data of the Ne II ion. In this work, we seek to determine electron-impact excitation cross sections of singly-ionized Neon using the B-Spline atomic R-Matrix (BSR) suite of codes [4,5]. Additionally, relevant Ne II atomic structure data, which can be used as input for BSR calculations, will be made available on the AMOSGateway [6], where interested parties can perform their own cross-section calculations.
