Accessing quantum mechanics in the complex plane
ORAL
Abstract
Quantum mechanics in the complex plane has been long studied and well understood mathematically, but has been hard to access in laboratories. We propose a scheme to explore wavefunctions defined along an axis in the complex plane via a non-unitary evolution. This method generates complex energy states known as quasinormal modes in a finite system, and also helps to access resonance states of quantum scattering potentials.
