Atom-cavity interaction for spin squeezing and entanglement generation

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

The strong interaction between atoms and photons provided by an optical cavity can be used for deterministic or heralded generation of entanglement in the atomic or light degrees of freedom. I will report on cavity-induced spin squeezing in an optical-transition clock, and on progress towards coupling arrays of individually trapped atoms to photons in the cavity. The high detection rate of the cavity also enables the real-time observation of collisions between individual atoms.
