Sound Mode Stability in a Bose-Fermi Mixture of <sup>133</sup>Cs and<sup> 6</sup>Li

Abstract

Quantum degenerate Bose-Fermi mixtures constitute a powerful platform for quantum simulation of many physical systems. We investigate a Bose-Einstein condensate of 133Cs immersed in a degenerate Fermi gas of 6Li. In previous work [Phys. Rev. Lett. 131, 083003], we observed sound propagation dynamics in the mixture via in situ imaging. The sound mode is sustained over an interspecies Feshbach resonance, which suggests physics beyond perturbative and mean-field theoretical predictions. This poster details our recent work towards characterizing this phenomenon through new experimental probes.
