Cavity QED Control of Quantum Condensed Matter
POSTER
Abstract
In this poster presentation I will give an overview of different condensed matter systems under strong and ultrastrong coupling to cavity vacuum fluctuations. I will discuss analytically solvable condensed matter models coupled to the cavity vacuum field, and how fundamental properties of condensed matter can be modified. I will focus on the two-dimensional free electron gas [1] and and on quantum Hall systems under cavity coupling [2]. I will show how the correlated light-matter ground-state gets populated by virtual photons which then modify conduction properties of the condesed matter system. Connections to recent experiments will also be discussed.
