Trapped-ion simulation of structured bath
ORAL
Abstract
The dynamics of a spin coupled to a structured bath hold significance in the realms of chemistry, biology, and condensed matter physics. Analog quantum simulation may serve as a tool for studying this problem, as the spin and bath can be mapped to the qubit and harmonic oscillators, respectively. In this talk, we simulate the dynamics of various spin-boson models using a trapped-ion quantum simulator. We demonstrate the ability to tune the temperature and spectral density of the simulated bath using stochastic operations. The experimental outcomes exhibit a notable agreement with theoretical predictions. Additionally, we explore the energy transfer phenomenon under various spectral densities and identify phase transitions.
