High-order harmonic generation from a dielectric in the presence of a quasi-static field

Abstract
Studies of laser-driven strong field processes subjected to a (quasi-)static field have
been mainly confined to theory. Here, we provide an experimental realization by
introducing a novel bichromatic approach for high harmonic generation (HHG) in a
dielectric that combines an intense mid-infrared (MIR) driving field with a weak terahertz
(THz) dressing field. Our work differs from previous two-color HHG studies due to the
disparate in MIR and THz field periods which is over a factor of 100 and the
ponderomotive potential of the THz field exceeds that of the MIR drive.
