Identification of Iridium I and II Lines from a Hollow Cathode Lamp

Abstract
The observation of neutron star mergers has highlighted the importance of heavy metals such as iridium in astrophysics. However, more experimental work is still necessary to have a thorough understanding of the electronic structure of iridium. To this end, we collect spectra emitted between 200 and 1500 nm from a Hollow Cathode lamp in order to identify both new and previously observed lines of Iridium I and II. We analyze the line intensities to determine their dependence on the current applied to the lamp as well as the relative intensities of lines with the same upper energy level.
