Applying to Grad School and Fellowships

Abstract

Once you have made the decision to attend graduate school, the next step is to go through the application process. There are similarities between applying as an undergraduate and as a graduate student, but there are some aspects that are quite different. One big aspect of graduate school is funding, and one source that requires additional applications are fellowships. There are a variety of fellowships available, like the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program, but they are very competitive and can even assist in being accepted to graduate school. This panel is composed of people who have been in your position, who persevered through the application process successfully, and who want to share their experiences with you all. We are here to answer any and all questions you have about the application process for graduate school and for highly competitive fellowships. Panelists: Amber Roepe (Univ of Oklahoma), Nadja Bernardes (Federal University of Pernambuco), Mu-Chun Chen (University of California, Irvine), and Amanda Bryant-Friedrich (Wayne University).
