Water-based Liquid Scintillator Deployment in the ANNIE Neutrino Detector
ORAL
Abstract
The Accelerator Neutrino Neutron Interaction Experiment (ANNIE) is a Gadolinium-loaded water Cherenkov detector at Fermilab, measuring the final state neutron multiplicity of neutrino-nucleus interactions. In March of 2023, a 365-kg acrylic vessel filled with water-based liquid scintillator (WbLS) was temporarily installed - the Scintillator for ANNIE Neutrino Detection Improvement (SANDI) vessel - to increase the light output and thus the detector sensitivity. This talk will give a general overview on the concept of WbLS and discuss the first results from two months of SANDI data.
