Predictions for proton and lambda baryon interactions in cold nuclear matter - results from the GiBUU event generator

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

Interactions between baryons and cold nuclear matter can provide insights on the dynamics of the strong force that holds the nucleus together.

We present predictions from the GiBUU event-generator for interactions between protons or lambda baryons with nuclei. Key observables include inclusive and semi-inclusive cross sections, as well as the ratios of these cross sections for nuclei of various-sized nuclei to those of deuterium as a reference. We evaluate these cross sections and ratios over a large range of energy scales. These predictions contribute to understanding of nuclear physics with potential implications for astrophysical phenomena and heavy-ion collision experiments.
